B10。(Royal Air Force Benson - TWO LANCASTERS PAY TRIBUTE TO THE DAMBUSTERS – FLYPAST OVER DERWENT DAM. - 21 September 2014 - Corporal (Cpl) Neil Chapman,During the Second World War the Derwent Dam was used by pilots of 617 Squadron for practising the low-level flights needed for Operation Chastise (commonly known as the Dambusters raids), due to its similarity to the German dams. The Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF BBMF) is working together with Severn Trent Water because, this Sunday, the last two flying Lancasters will fly over the Derwent Dam for the first time in over 50 years – weather and aircraft serviceability permitting. This will be a very historic flypast, in a commemorative tribute to the Dambusters and all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.)
