2009年4月18日，吉尔吉斯马纳斯空军基地，美国空军第535空运中队（535th AS）的C-17A"环球霸王"III战略运输机起飞返回夏威夷希卡姆空军基地，马纳斯空军基地是将货物运往阿富汗的中转站，为持久自由行动提供物资运输支持。过去五周以来，每天几乎都有三架次的C-17A往返两地。（A C-17 Globemaster III from the 535th Airlift Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, takes off from Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, April 18 with a load of cargo destined for Afghanistan.
