2014年6月2日，法国诺曼底海滩，英国空军第二中队的“狂风”ECR 电子战/侦察机由英法两国飞行员驾驶进行纪念飞行，模拟该中队的前辈“野马”战斗机70年前侦察诺曼底海滩的情形，那时候的“野马”飞行员必须冒着海岸防空火力的威胁在800英尺内的距离才能拍到有价值的照片，如今技术的发展使得“狂风”可以在20000英尺以外获得清晰图像。（Royal Air Force personnel from II (Army Cooperation) Squadron fly their Tornado aircraft over the beaches of Normandy, 70 years after their predecessors flew Mustang aircraft on photo reconnaissance flights.The imagery a single Tornado can collect in a single mission would have taken dozens of Mustang missions. While the modern crew took their clear imagery from 20,000 feet, the Mustang pilots had to fly at 800 feet, within ramge of anti-aircraft fire from the coast.）
