2012年11月14日，美日“利剑-2013”联合军演中，美国海军 VFA-195“Dambusters/水坝破坏者”战斗攻击机中队一架 F/A-18E 战斗机飞越东中国海，美日“利剑”演习从1986年开始每两年举行一次，是美日间大规模双边演习之一。（A U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 195 flies over the East China Sea Nov. 14, 2012, during exercise Keen Sword 2013. Keen Sword is a joint/bilateral field exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self Defense Forces (JSDF) personnel. Keen Sword is held every other year and alternates years with the Keen Edge command post exercise. VFA-195 was under way as part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.）
