Cope Thunder is a Joint/Combined Air training exercise with the main purpose of providing 8-10 sorties per pilot, that are as real as combat within the constraints of the training environment. The exercise is run by 353rd Combat Training Squadron at Eielson AFB with DET 1, 353 CTS at Elmendorf AFB.）
