VMFA-212 is the flagship squadron of Marine Aircraft Group 12, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade's air combat element during Exercise Talisman Saber 2007. The exercise is designed to maintain a high level of interoperability between 3rd MEB and Australian forces. The brigade is composed of an infantry regimental landing team, composite air group, and a logistics regiment. These capabilities allow the brigade to project force as a scaleable and versatile Marine Air Ground Task Force.）
