2014年11月11日,冲绳巴克讷湾,美日“利剑-2015”联合军演中,美国海军日耳曼城号两栖船坞登陆舰上,地勤人员在解除日本陆上自卫队 CH-47JA 直升机的固定铁链和轮档。美日“利剑”演习从1986年开始每两年举行一次,本次日本自卫队投入约3万人,美军大约1万兵力参演,演习主要在九州东部海域展开。(Sailors remove chocks and chains from a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, assigned to the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF), on the flight deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) during a personnel transfer for exercise Keen Sword. Exercise Keen Sword is a bilateral field training exercise held biennially since 1986. The exercise is designed to increase the interoperability of U.S. Forces and the Japanese Self Defense Forces (JSDF) to effectively and mutually provide for the defense of Japan, or respond to a regional crisis or contingency situation in the Asia-Pacific region. Germantown is part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group (#PELARG14), commanded by Capt. Heidi Agle, and is conducting joint forces exercises in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.)
