On Tuesday, 24 February 2015, the last remaining KC-30A (serial A39-001 (cn 747)) Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) arrived in Australia, having been flown by an Airbus Defence & Space crew. It joins a fleet of KC-30As in service with No. 33 Squadron, the first aircraft arrived in squadron service in 2011. A39-001 (cn 747) was the first KC-30A MRTT to be constructed, and was utilised extensively on test flights in Europe for development and certification of refuelling systems and other mission equipment. Development flights with the aircraft's Aerial Refuelling Boom System, which can transfer more than 4500 litres of fuel per minute, were completed in Europe in July 2014. Following an Airworthiness Board scheduled for March 2015, the RAAF will begin its own boom-refuelling flights, beginning with air-to-air refuelling with other KC-30As.）
