BAP is a standing NATO task undertaken by rotations of typically four air defence fighter aircraft from contributing nations. It is a purely defensive mission. The RAF last participated in BAP in 2004/2005 with Tornado F3s.The RAF’s Typhoon is used to provide air policing within UK and Falkland Islands airspace as part of Quick Reaction Alert. A multi-role aircraft, it is capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations, from air policing through to high intensity conflict.）

2007年12月21日，奥地利施泰尔马克州采尔特维克空军基地，一架奥地利空军第一中队刚刚服役不久的“台风”T1战斗机正在起飞，这架“台风”属于欧洲战斗机公司向奥地利空军交付的第一批4架“台风”中的一架。奥地利空军原本计划采购24架“台风”，后经两次削减，最终购买了15架。
